“La Resistencia de una Espora. Museo de la Solidaridad Returns to GAM”, it is an exhibition that revisits the cultural enthusiasm that existed during the popular unity,the story of missing works after the military coup and the recovery of some of them, the exhibition counts with over 40 pieces from the collection MSSA, gathering files and multimedia material.

The Building of GAM was inaugurated in 1972 for UNCTAD III that changed its name to Centro Cultural Metropolitano Gabriela Mistral. The first exhibition that was welcomed here was by Museo de la Solidaridad with international artists' works. that exhibition formed by almost 50 works donated for the chilean people, gave testimony of the support from the international community to Salvador Allende's government and shown pieces by recognized artists such as Víctor Vasarely (Hungary), Joan Miró (Spain), Robert Israel (USA), Adigio Benítez (Cuba), Sérvulo Esmeraldo (Brazil) and Eduardo Chillida (Spain).

These works will be back to be shown in GAM as a part of the exhibition “La resistencia de una espora. Museo de la Solidaridad vuelve a GAM” that will be inaugurated in september 6th at the visual arts showroom.
