Artist Maite Izquierdo presents Manto de Reparación (Mantle of Repair), a moving and collaborative exhibition that invites reflection on memory, materiality, and collective transformation processes. Focusing on contemporary textile art, the artist led a two-year series of twenty workshops where people of all ages contributed to dismantling, reinterpreting, and reconstructing discarded garments, shaping a collective tapestry.
The exhibit includes Recuento Textil (Textile Reckoning), an installation featuring nine audiovisual channels documenting different moments of the community-driven creative process. Additionally, the Estructuras (Structures) series integrates into the exhibition space as living bodies, interacting with the architecture and natural light. Finally, the two-dimensional works Hilachas I and Hilachas II (Loose Threads I & II) serve as archaeological records of the process, capturing residual threads and the chromatic gestures that define the artist’s intimate and ritualistic practice.
