Heritage Day 2024


Every last Sunday in May, since 2000, the country has experienced unprecedented activity during Chile’s Cultural Heritage Day, a day characterized by the opening of buildings with history and heritage value; cultural activities and free guided tours. In this way, thousands of people have the opportunity to visit museums, ministries, churches, universities and palaces, in addition to enjoying an intense agenda of panoramas in public spaces.

In 2022, the activity changed its name to Heritage Day, with the aim of highlighting and making visible the plurality of heritages and identities present in Chile. The 2024 version will take place on May 25 and 26 and  we have prepared the following activities:

Saturday May 25

10:00 hours. Yungay Neighborhood Tour. Discover the largest heritage neighborhood in Santiago with a free tour of its main attractions, such as the Museum of Memory and Human Rights, the heritage passages, Peluquería Francesa and Plaza Yungay, among others. Meeting point. Exterior of the Fifth Normal Station. Santiago Metro Line 5.

11:00 hours. Route of the Shopping Galleries. Be surprised by the history and diversity of the network of Shopping Malls in the Historic Center of the City, which are a unique type of public space that connects walks, streets and buildings, standing out for their interesting offer of small-scale commerce and unique ventures. Sunday May 26

10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Town Hall Tours. Accompany the guides from the Tourism Subdirectorate of the Municipality of Santiago on tours of the heritage building of the Municipality of Santiago. During the visit, you will learn about the history of emblematic spaces where the main municipal authorities work, starting in the Central Hall to continue through the Office of the Mayor of Santiago and the solemn Hall of Honor. Groups of 25 people will be organized, according to the order of arrival. Meeting Point. Municipality of Santiago Town Hall Palace. Plaza de Armas s/n (whitout number). Plaza de Armas Station. Line 3 and 5 Santiago Metro.

10:00 and 12:30 hours. Santa Lucía Hill Tour. Join the tours of one of the most visited public parks in the city. During their visit, attendees will learn the history of Cerro Santa Lucía and will be able to discover emblematic corners, such as the Neptuno and Caupolicán terraces.
