Estación Central de Ferrocarriles

This is the main railway station in Chile. It provides services between Santiago and Chillán and displays hectic activity on a daily basis.

The current building is the result of remodeling work carried out in the late 19th century, which involved installing an attractive metal structure spanning all the platforms and that was commissioned from the French company Schneider Co Creusot.

The Central Station is a busy spot in the capital, the meeting point for thousands of people who travel to the south of Chile or are attracted by the miscellaneous goods sold in the shops located both inside it and in the surrounding streets, where you can buy clothes, shoes, toys and household wares, among others.

The Central Railway Station was declared a National Monument on June 29, 1983
