The Gabriela Mistral Center invites you to the exhibition "The Path to Myself", which is carried out in co-production with Ch.ACO and seeks to make visible and highlight the transcendent vitalism that still distinguishes Bonati, with a series of large-format abstract works, carried out in recent years in his workshop in Pirque and inspired by psychiatric studies, transcendental meditation and the knowledge that has guided him on his path of knowledge, in permanent search for a supra consciousness. On the other hand, milestones of his production will be recreated during his self-exile in Spain, since the mid-70s. Audiovisual and documentary products that review his role at UNCTAD and collect his own creative testimony and the influences he has exerted, as an artist and teacher. “Bonati's story shows the cultural drift of the institutional breakdown in our country. Becoming, between the '60s and '70s, one of the most complete artists of the Chilean 20th century, his public figure was - after the Military Coup - erased from the cultural map and he can account for the dispossession of his territory and ecosystem , of the pain and helplessness of observing from afar the collapse of democracy and systemic abuse in his country, and bringing that experience to images. In this story we rescue the possibility of reinvention and development of a career from scratch, in a distant country, becoming an active academic and intellectual, as well as one of the leading figures of the demanding Spanish painting scene," says Elisa Cárdenas. , curator of the exhibition.
