Event Details
Visit the new temporary exhibition at the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art: “Living and Present: Art of the Atacameño/Lickanantay, Mapuche, and Rapanui Peoples.”
This exhibition centers on the tradition and persistence of art from the Atacameño, Mapuche, and Rapanui communities. It grew out of a research project launched in 2022, called the “Reasoned Catalogue,” which gathered dialogues with Indigenous knowledge-keepers and artisans in response to the museum’s permanent exhibition, “Chile before Chile.”
Rather than focusing only on objects, the exhibition highlights faces, authorship, and the stories behind each piece—weaving together memory, craftsmanship, and creative work both past and present from these represented territories.
