Cultural Center GAM invites you to enjoy this theater play which takes the stage an autobiographical that shows with impudence and intelligence the stubbornness of machismo in progressive times. Antonia Zegers and Patricia Rivadeneira will display the first Chilean version of the polemical feminist essay “King Kong Theory”. “King Kong Theory”, written by the French, famous and intellectual, Virginie Despentes, which stirred up intellectuality after its release in 2006. Despentes used Peter Jackson’s King Kong figure to celebrate the sexuality before binarism, an Eden-like state, like punk-rock and its intention to dynamite the established codes, specially the gender ones. Eighteen years later, it’s taken to the screenplays under the direction of Alexandra von Hummel and the adaptation of Manuela Oyarzún, to a text that will review the testimonies of Despentes about her own rape when she was 17 years old, her decision to prostitute herself and to direct pornographic films. On scene, Patricia Rivadeneira and Antonia Zegers will play “Una mujer llena de vicios” using a provocative language, but at the same time, the reflexive one of Despentes, just like to women that could be the same person; or versions of the same body: the one that was, that is and that will be. Both wear Coco Chanel to show a vital journey through their voices, which represent many, exposing an internal conversation that comes and goes, that goes forward and backwards, that shows, just like the French intellectual said, “the same thing that distorts us, also constitutes us”.
