Calle Ismael Valdés Vergara

This street starts in the Mapocho area and extends along the Forestal Park. On its way it passes through different neighborhoods as Esmeralda, Bellas Artes and Lastarria.

It was named in honor to Ismael Valdés Vergara (1853-1916), a prominent Chilean intellectual, who as a law student taught free classes to workers. He was one of the founders of “Club del Progreso” and author of the “Historia del Cuerpo de Bomberos” (History of Fire Department), an institution where he was superintendent.
