Celebrate the 209th anniversary of the National Library of Chile with unmissable activities, in online and face-to-face mode, which will take place during August.
Guided visits. You will be able to see the interior of the heritage building and walk from the Alameda Hall, passing through the traditional Sala Medina, the General Fund warehouses and the
Gabriela Mistral reading room, to finish with a small exhibition about the construction of the current building of the National Library.
Exhibition “Teach always. Gabriela Mistral and her relationship with Mexico”. On Friday, August 19 at 11:30 a.m., this exhibition will be inaugurated, which commemorates the centenary of the arrival of the national poet in the North American country and the publication of her first book "Desolation".
Digital platform. In August, the emblematic art and literature magazine GONG, by Oreste Plath, will be published on the Library's digital platforms. The complete collection, consisting
of 12 numbers, will be made available to the public for free reading and/or downloading. The restoration and digitization of the so-called "Epistolary Archive Domeyko”, which corresponds to the donation of documents by Ignacio Domeyko. It is mostly epistolary material dated between 1830 and 1890.
