This park is made up of hills detached from the Manquehue hill chain, and covers 720 hectares.

At the peak of the San Cristóbal Hill, at an altitude of around 860 meters, is a statue of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. The sculpture stands 14 meters high and was officially inaugurated in 1908 in the presence of numerous believers.

The park as we know it today is the result of the initiative of Mayor Alberto Mackenna Subercaseaux, who started forestation work with mimosa and pine trees, as well as with other species, in 1921.

Here tourists will also find the National Zoo, the Botanical Gardens, two swimming pools, picnic areas and a privileged view over the valley and the city.

In November 2016, Cable Car started operating, with 46 new cabins, eight of which have four bicycle stands. Each cabin can accommodate up to 6 people.
