Founded in 1956 by a group of independent actors, it became one of the oldest theaters in the country. In the course of its more than 50 years of history, it has performed over 80 plays, many of which have been showing for more than one year. From the second half of the 1960’s onwards, it became consolidated as a theatrical group, which led to a unique style of artistic production of its own known as Collective Creation, in which playwrights, actors and directors would be involved and would take part. In 2008, Ictus celebrated its 50 anniversary, accompanied by various actors and companies from the national milieu, with the active participation of around 7,000 spectators.
In February 2018, the Municipality of Santiago presented him with the “Fundación de Santiago” recognition, for the important cultural contribution to the Lastarria neighborhood.
