This market is considered the third supply center for agricultural products for free fairs and gastronomic ventures in the city, where you can get in touch with the smells, colors, and flavors of traditional Chilean products.

It was founded in 1926 and its location is associated with the construction of the Viel neighborhood, with workers and railway roots, which began to take shape at the end of the 19th century from the construction of the Maestranza San Eugenio of the company Ferrocarriles, on the western edge of the city.

With nearly 100 years of operation, Vega Poniente has 120 stores selling vegetables, fruits, fish and shellfish, nuts, herbs, butchers, frozen products, groceries, and delicatessens.

It is a space where history is lived, since some of its tenants are representatives of second and even third generations of families linked to the identity of this market, who continue to attend with the same warmth as always and offering convenient prices.

Maquinista Escobar, 3146, Santiago.
